To book a Practical Driving test online
(Motorcar, Motorcycle and Moped tests only) you will need:
- a valid UK driving licence
- a valid debit or credit card for payment (Visa, Mastercard, Delta and Switch/Maestro cards are accepted)
You can book your Practical test anytime by clicking on Book Practical Test online in Booking section on the right hand panel.
Please Note: If you have any
Special Requirements or disabilities, unfortunately you cannot use the online service to book. Please contact the
call centre or your
local test centre to book.
Payments
To book a test online, in addition to your Northern Ireland or GB Driving Licence number you need a valid credit or debit card. We use the same level of security as banks and other financial institutions to protect your personal details during and after the transaction.
All payments on this site are in pounds sterling.

Security
We are fully committed to keeping your personal details safe and we are using secure server software to encrypt (put into code) your personal information. The level of encryption used is in line with security requirements and industry standards.
To access secure (https) pages on this site, you will need a 40-bit SSL enabled browser. The secure transaction pages for our online services need 128-bit encryption provided as standard in browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or later, Netscape 4.7 or later, etc.
Service Availability
You can normally book, cancel or change a Practical Driving test online 24 hours a day, every day. However during periods of system maintenance the service may be unavailable for short periods of time.

If you wish to book an appointment for a practical driving test for a private car or motorcycle, you may book by telephone from 08.00 to 19.00 Monday to Friday and 09.00 to 13.00 Saturday.

If you are booking for any other category of test, you will need to make an application by post or at the counter.
When making a telephone booking you do not need an application form but it is advisable to have your provisional driving licence, your theory test certificate and credit/debit card details handy when making the call.

You may book any category of test in person. You will need to complete an application form and take it with the appropriate fee to the DVTA test centre at which you would like the test to be carried out.
The Belfast centre is open for booking from 9.00 to 4.00, Monday to Friday.
All other centres are open from 8.45 to 12.30 and 1.15 to 4.00, Monday to Friday.
