Good driving practice begins with good driving theory. The Driving Theory Test has been carefully devised to assess a candidates general knowledge of road safety and driving regulations; The test ensures that learner drivers have the knowledge and understanding they need to be able to drive safely.

The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) is a new qualification that all professional bus, coach and lorry drivers must hold in addition to their vocational driving licence. Driver CPC comes into force across all European Union member states on:

• 10 September 2008 for bus and coach drivers; and



• 10 September 2009 for lorry drivers



• The driver CPC qualifying process requires you to take and pass a Case Study test (Module 2). The type of Case Study test you take will depend upon what other Driver CPC qualifications you hold. The table below provides a guide to advise you what Case Study test you need to take.
