Introduction of CDG/ADR Test

The Health and Safety Executive (NI) and The Northern Ireland Office acting as the competent authorities will be introducing new legislation into Northern Ireland concerning the transportation of dangerous goods. These new regulations introduce many of the existing requirements of the International Transport of Dangerous Goods (ADR) into national legislation for new vehicles. DVTA have been asked by the competent authorities to undertake the vehicle approval and certification aspects of these regulations. DVTA will commence testing from
1st August 2006.
The vehicles affected by these regulations are all new vehicles (over 3500kg) and new trailers involved in the carriage of dangerous goods (CDG) on national journeys. The regulations also apply to all vehicles/trailers, new and old currently involved in the carriage of dangerous goods.
The new test will be performed at Belfast and Cookstown Test Centres initially and will be expanded across other centres as demand increases.
